Poor Wakka. He's not so bright, and seems to only care about two things: blitzball and protecting Yuna. I'm really not that fond of Wakka, but I have to admit his blind devotion to Yevon--and his eventual renunciation of it--are pretty darn interesting.
I guess Wakka's a nice guy, but on the whole I think he's pretty boring. Though he's very kind to Tidus, and his interactions with Rikku are really important, I still think he's a pretty dull character. Sorry Wakka! ^^;;
"Huh, never woulda figured. Legendary guardians choke sometimes too, ya?"
Wakka has a lot of misconceptions about Auron. He deeply respects him as a "legendary guardian," an upholder of righteous faith. What Wakka doesn't seem to realize is that Auron is very human, and as such, very fallible. Auron has in fact turned his back on his faith, or at least on the corruption therein, and poor Wakka doesn't get a clue until the laws of Yevon personally do him wrong.
As the group approaches Zanarkand, the last leg of their journey, Wakka learns a thing or two about his hero. To his credit, even after realizing that Auron is not at all who he seems, Wakka still ardently admires him. And though Auron seems to think of Wakka as pretty immature, I'd imagine he does understand the turmoil Wakka's going through, seeing his faith turned upside down.
